USA/Minnesota Coaching seminar
with Sir Graham Henry
Richie McCaw on Graham Henry: He is never happy where we are at. He always has somewhere to go, always looking to make improvements. He has watched a huge amount of rugby and is not afraid to trial ideas from other teams. That’s his huge strength. He sees the big picture, plans a whole campaign. He is motivated by a huge desire to see the All Blacks win every test and the World Cup. Graham Henry on Wayne Smith: “Wayne is the best coach I have ever coached with. He has a huge work ethic, does lots of research and has a great feel for the game. At the moment he is the defence coach and is also involved with our counter attacking strategy. He is a very thoughtful man and takes a major interest in how we use turnover ball. He has been going around with a little camera which he uses to track individual players for a whole game. It has proved quite embarrassing for some. There is nowhere to hide and the players soon learn where they have to step up. Top bloke.”

Wayne Smith details during his USA clinic key developments in tackle. Wayne as always has expertly research and details the trends in an easy to understand manner.
great research done by Wayne and his team, everything he says is simple yet effective. Just a matter of teaching the players within a short window twice a week
Using set ups and not patterns is good. question when do you call the option being used off the set up to create strike 1.
Very thought provoking, Just talking about a coaches role as a life long learner, is an exciting and important perspective.
Found the discussion of the attacking options and the defensive structure really illuminating
Fantastic series of videos to take a lot out of. Really useful for reviewing myself as a coach, and how I bring the best out of my players.
