About Brendon Ratcliffe

Founder of therugbysite.com. In 1993 as a fresh graduate of Otago University’s School of Physical Education Brendon landed one of the 10 full time jobs in rugby coaching in New Zealand as a Provincial Rugby Development Officer. This was the start of a 21 year fully professional rugby development and coaching career that has taken him around the world and culminated in the development and global growth of this website.

His career has included six years as Director of Player Development for NZRU, three years as forwards coach at English Premiership Club, Northampton Saints and a similar time frame as Head Coach of his home province Hawkes Bay.

Brendon is a true rugby missionary. Creating and driving the simple philosophy of this site that aims to share the applied knowledge and understanding of the best rugby players and coaches in the world, with the world. “There is a simplicity about what the great players and coaches understand is important to rugby and drives success in rugby.
