Attack off 10 - HS and A with Eddie Jones

We’re going to create options using your 2 best ball running forwards off your 10. We will also have an outside option off 10 so we are creating shape that we call the triangle off 10. That gives 3 potential options and the 4th option being the 10 running themselves. Be sure to closely watch the running lines of the players, it’s really important that the players are catching the ball early, their first step is as straight as possible to make the defender turn their shoulders - that’s what we are aiming to do, attack weak shoulders.

Course reviews

Excelentes videos.

Argentina

Hi. All of Eddie Jones’ videos: Can only hear audio but no visuals (blank)

South Africa

This is an excellent video and very well explained great for forwards learning pod play.

Australia

I want to be just like Eddie? He’s been around a while and like wine is an outstanding and fine coach who is now in his prime. England are very fortunate and I would say Eddie is worth whatever they are paying him. He’s done his time and now reaping the awards so to are England.

Australia

Excellent series!

New Zealand

great and simple modern rugby.

Italy

Eddie Jones is brilliant. He has so much knowledge and continues to get better and better. Great video with clarity.

Arabian Gulf

GOOD TEACHER .WITH OUR TALLER AND SKINNY PLAYERS THIS IS THE KIND OF PLAY THAT WILL HELP US WITH THE PLAYERS WE HAVE. THANKS SIR JONES

South Africa

/love the 10’s option drills, and the concept of teaching players to communicate and play what is in front of them

Australia

Superbly explained EJ.

England

Thanks, we don,t have greats fisics in our FW, and is no easy to gain the vantage line, we need to give to the 10 more options to attack, our backs are a good option, and with the Fw including in the structure of 9 we can have alternatives to break de line an d play inside the defense.

Argentina

That’s exactly the type of play I was looking for.

Ireland

Fantastic! All three parts. The video planning and shots. The graphics. And Eddie Jones’s commentary dense with insight and analytical and expressive clarity. As good helpful as any single lecture I have watched.

USA

muy claro

Argentina

Awesome video by Eddie, will try and implement next practice and beyond thanks

New Zealand

excelente enseñanza

Argentina

Great sessions good to see Eddie coaching players to play heads up rugby. Good to se if being used in a game format as often strucutre can break down

England

great

Germany

great steps with explanation on how to develop your attack off 10

Scotland

Great session and great ethos

Australia

Great understanding

New Zealand

Good, easy to comprehend, use of highlights to help visualise the key points of attack.

Eddie has a good commentary style too, which reduces ambiguity

USA

Good video showing a clear plan of attack. Just on the decoys he could have explained the holes around the decoy runners- receiver can run an L line or overs to open up hole on the inside. Also no inside option for 10 seems to make it easier for defence to spread their ABC defenders?

Australia

This was an excllent video. The key points are clear and easy to understand. I love this site, it’s the best money I’ve spent on rugby!

USA

good stuff

Georgia

Well explained, stressing the fixing of defenders to create and maintain space, then using the space

France

This video is very well put together highlighting some fundamental and advanced skill levels for all players to understand and try to grasp. All coaches can benefit from this video.

Wales

Clear and concise.Really liked the simplcity of the session. Would like to have more on lines of communication, who says what and where! Good quality presentation.

England

Very progressive material and it all makes so much sense. Playing to the point of least resistance and making spur of the moment decisions based on what the defense is presenting is the way to go. Good job.

New Zealand

Awesome video of attacking play

New Zealand

Great video, clearly explained. Good to see videos that help to increase a players awareness on the field.

New Zealand

Simple but effective attack structure well explained by Eddie. I like that he’s trying to teach the players awareness of what’s in front of them and not just teaching another pattern of play

New Zealand

You have to admire the clarity of Eddie Jones’s coaching especially his ability to coach players and units how to read defenses, pick running lines and pass with a purpose. Probably why the Wallabies were so good when he coached them in them. I like that all the work is done in the same space as the situations would occupy in a game and I love the line, “I don’t use cones because you don’t see cones on a rugby field” Quade Cooper’s recent display for the Reds against the Brumbies is a great illustration of the work Eddie Jones shows in these modules.

USA

I did this with scott wisemantle who works with Eddie in Japan it works well and is quite simple

Australia

Good explanation and easily understood and a good style of rugby. Thanks

Australia

Fast paced, well edited video. I love this style of play, and seeing it broken down into coachable segments was fantastic. I already run a similar system with my team but see more than a few pointers that will be helpful. More of this please!!!

USA

There is a fifth option available that we run; a tight forward running an inside line off the 10 and towards the back of the opponent’s ruck. It gives us 5 options instead of the 4 shown here.
