About Dr Sam Barke

Sam Medical Director of Return2Play, (www.return2play.org.uk), trained at Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’s Hospitals Medical School, London.
Following junior doctor posts in the West Midlands he undertook his basic surgical training in London before focusing on Trauma & Orthopaedics. Sam has qualifications in pre-hospital care and sports medicine and has extensive experience in planning and delivering medical care for sporting events.
In recent years Sam has developed a keen interest in the diagnosis and management of concussion and has presented both nationally and internationally on the topic.
Outside of concussion, he has an interest in young adult hip problems and sports injuries and is published on the subjects both in medical journals and text-books.
Having played rugby from a young age Sam is now Chairman of a large community rugby club which provides rugby for both adults and children. He is passionate about enabling amateur players to access the same level of medical care that professionals are afforded.
