TESTIMONIALS

I’ve really enjoyed working with Sean on the Leadership program and I have used it to great effect with my local club side and I am implementing it with the University side I coach. This is going to be such an awesome tool and there is a huge need for it to help develop our future coaches.

- Frank Hewitt-Smith, Lancaster University and Keswick RUFC

It was great doing the coach leadership program with Sean. The program exposed me to a different way of thinking of what leadership is and leadership when it comes to coaching. I learned tools that will help me not only be a better leader but mentor others to be better leaders. I specifically enjoyed the coach subjective determination and the reflection that it involved, as well as the one on one tutorials I had with Sean. I always looked forward to hearing feedback on the questionnaires. I highly recommend any coach or person, who wants to be the best coach or better leader they can be, to participate in this program.

- Ron Suarez, FIU Men’s Rugby Club, Florida

During my time completing tasks and conversing with Sean I have learned a great deal about my own approach to coaching and more importantly how I as a coach interact with my athletes individually during training having completed CALM. Great tool for coaching awareness towards their athletes needs and getting the most out if them.

- Bryan Murphy, Ennis RC, Ireland

I reached out to Sean regarding the coach leadership program via the Rugby Site. We have since then been in numerous video conference calls discussing the program. It has exceeded my expectation having this interaction and seeing the potential this program has to offer. I see it as a great tool to help aspiring coaches use techniques to better understand their team environment and individuals.

- Michael Poppmeier, Wild Rugby Academy, Germany

Over the last two seasons I have spent a lot of time studying books on leadership in rugby and as a coach I have realised there is more to coaching then drills. With a keen interest in leadership I checked the rugby site and it was offering a coach leadership course. The course itself is extremely interesting and offers a lot more in-depth analysis on different coaching styles and theories. The course is not just theory based it has many videos from top coaches who discuss their coaching philosophies and why communication is so important in coaching as well as the importance of bringing great energy to every session to influence an athletes performance and development.
At the end of every topic, there is a follow-up questionnaire which I found extremely beneficial when reflecting on my personal coaching skills.
I look forward to putting all the information I have learned from the CALM program into a action in my coaching career.

- Jarleth Naughton, Ireland

I have loved taking part in Stage 1 of the CALM program. This stage has helped reinforce the key principles of coaching and most importantly leadership which I believe isn’t prioritised enough when talking about coaching. I particularly liked the variety of learning tools the program uses to get the key points across from readings, videos, reflections, questions and a tutorial. I have already found myself thinking about areas I can improve on to make me a better coach.

- James Semple, Waikato Women’s coach, New Zealand

Recently I discovered the CALM courses [1 & 2] which provided quality leadership information in a rugby specific context and forced me to critically assess my own coaching practices and the experiences that shaped my coaching, guiding my leadership style.
I enjoyed the course material, presented by well respected coaches in clear and concise manner; the questionnaires challenged me; and the debrief with Sean was well facilitated, enabling me to come to terms with some of my coaching/leadership skills strengths and weaknesses.
