Attack and Defence Shape - Modified Games - All with The Rugby Site

Randwick Academy coaches Adam Baker and James Tesoriero present two Attack and defence shape modified games.

The games are suitable for all ages, skill levels and formats of the game.

The games are competitive, fun and provide plenty of opportunity for coaches to vary to include skills and decision making.

The Randwick Junior Academy forms part of the Randwick District’s (in Sydney, Australia) pathway for its junior players. For more information on the Academy go to Randwick Junior Academy.

Part 2. Turnover 'Chaos' Modified Game 10:42 Member content

Randwick’s (Sydney, Australia) Colts coach James Tesoriero expertly replicates, via a fun modified game, the ‘chaos’ of turnover rugby. James manages to also incorporate players’ core skills required to execute the Attack.

Like last week’s game, this game:

- is competitive and fun.
- is easy to deliver.
- only requires a ball and some bibs.
- can be played anytime, anywhere.
- can be managed and shaped to fit the skill level, and understanding, of your – players.
- enables plenty of modifications to be introduced to present and build game like situations.

Course reviews

Once again you’ve shown me something new that I can add to my coaching ‘toolkit’ and it is so well explained and modelled. Well done.

Canada

Really helped me understand what I am seeing when I watch the game now.

USA

Superb game. Really like the transition from skill development into competitive situation with plenty of thinking and problem solving for the players. An excellent practice that I will certainly be using.

England

Perhaps giving the players opportunities to develop their A and D for themselves.

Great Britain & Northern Ireland

Very good game, atention defence, quick reposition

Argentina

I like the Chaos game in particular. It identifies weaknesses but allows players to train and thrive in Chaos.

USA

What a great exercise, always looking for fun games to promote thinking with the ball and without the ball. Awesome!

Netherlands

Great game!!! Way to set a drill-game-drill dynamic, working on technique and game sense
